Frequently Asked Questions
Q&A regarding configuration and usage
The Basics
Q. What is Phennec?
A. Phennec is a platform that provides real-time context to AI agents. It connects to and indexes documents and code distributed across platforms such as GitLab, Notion, and Google Drive in real time, and automatically delivers optimal context to MCP-supported platforms like Cursor and Claude through the MCP protocol.
Q. What kind of development teams is it suited for?
A. It is ideal for teams whose documentation and code are spread across multiple platforms and repositories. It is especially effective for the following cases:
- New member onboarding (2–4 weeks → 2–3 days)
- Automatic release note generation (3–5 hours → 15 minutes)
- Root cause investigation for production incidents (several days → several minutes)
- Test case generation (up to 75% reduction in planning effort)
Phennec can be used by teams of any size that want to integrate AI into their development workflow.
Early Access Beta Details
Q. What is required to join the early access beta?
A. You can apply simply by registering your email address. After review, invitations are sent out sequentially. We are currently prioritizing development teams and product managers for early access.
Q. Are there any limitations during the beta period?
A. During the beta period, some features or the number of available connectors may be limited. Features will be expanded progressively based on participant feedback. Details about any limitations will be provided upon acceptance.
Q. What happens to my data and settings after the beta ends?
A. Projects and settings created during the beta period will be carried over to the official release. Beta participants will receive a special discount upon launch.
Q. Is providing feedback mandatory?
A. Feedback is not mandatory, but we greatly appreciate input to help improve the product. A dedicated feedback channel is available for beta participants.
Features & Technology
Q. Which platforms are supported?
A. Currently, Phennec supports major MCP clients including Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code (GitHub Copilot), and Windsurf. Additional platforms will be added over time.
Q. Can Phennec be accessed in ways other than MCP?
A. At this time, connection via the MCP protocol is recommended. Providing a REST API is still under consideration.
Security & Data
Q. How is submitted data processed and stored?
A. Data retrieved through connectors is vectorized (indexed) and stored in secure storage. Copies of the original data are not retained; only the indexes necessary for search are managed. All data is encrypted, and customer data is never used to train AI models.
Q. Have you obtained compliance certifications such as SOC 2 or GDPR?
A. We are currently preparing for SOC 2 certification. Enterprise-grade security measures, including data encryption, access control, and audit logging, are already implemented. Updates on certification progress will be shared with participants.
Q. Who owns my data? Is export possible?
A. Ownership of your data always remains with you. Phennec creates and maintains indexes required for semantic search but does not claim ownership of the original data. Upon service termination, we guarantee the complete deletion of your data.
Support
Q. What kind of support is available?
A. Beta participants are provided with setup guides as well as access to a dedicated support channel. Our team will respond directly to technical issues and integration-related questions.
